Shop Small Season Challenge
Shop Local All Season Long for Your Chance to Win $$$!
The City of Emmetsburg and Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce are encouraging residents to keep up efforts to "shop small" and "shop local" throughout this entire holiday season. When you shop small, you’re investing in the community!
The City and Chamber have developed a Shop Small Season calendar with daily and weekly challenges to eat, shop, and support local. The Shop Small Season Challenge is in full swing and will run through Christmas Eve. Pick up a printed calendar at local businesses or the Chamber office and start shopping! Remember to have the manager or staff member sign inside the designated box on your calendar to complete each challenge. Return your calendar to the Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce by Friday, December 31st.
Prizes: If you complete 1-5 challenges, your name will be placed in a drawing to win $100 in Chamber bucks. If you complete 6-15 challenges, your name will be placed in a drawing to win $200 in Chamber bucks. If you complete more than 15 challenges, your name will be placed in a drawing to win $300 in Chamber bucks.
Foodie Week: This week is “Foodie Week” on our Shop Small Season Challenge Calendar. Daily challenges this week encourage residents to support local restaurants. Dine in or order takeout on Tuesday, grab a coffee on Wednesday, order pizza on Thursday, enjoy happy hour on Friday, and grab popcorn at the theatre on Saturday. Complete the weekly challenge by getting your holiday grocery shopping done early.
Last Minute Gift Week: The final week of the Shop Small Season Challenge (next week) is “Last Minute Gift Week.” Complete the weekly challenge by purchasing a gift card from a local business. Daily challenges include purchasing a gift for someone at a local store, tipping extra at a local business, shouting out your favorite business online, and more!

Christmas Cash Giveaway
Message from the Chamber of Commerce
It’s time for the Christmas Cash Giveaway hosted by the Emmetsburg Chamber.
This is the second year for this promotion to win one of three cash prizes, $500, $250, or $100! Tickets are $10 each and available at the Chamber office or from any Chamber Board member. The drawing will be Monday, December 20 which less than one week away!
Proceeds from this year’s promotion will go toward the purchase of new Christmas decorations for the street poles in town. It is time to dispose of the rusty, tattered snowflakes that have been lighting the town for thirteen years. Soon we will decide on new colorful decorations that will freshen up the town during the holiday season and although a design has not been chosen, we know that they are expensive and a lot of fundraising will be necessary.
Be sure to stop in to get your tickets. Everyone can use a little more cash!
Merry Christmas!

Please take our Emmetsburg Branding Survey!
The City of Emmetsburg has hired Arnett Muldrow & Associates to conduct a branding and marketing initiative for Emmetsburg. The purpose of this effort is to create a consistent message and image package for the city and its partners to use to continue to build local pride and recruit investment to the community.
We are conducting a survey to collect your ideas on the character and identity of the community. Data collected in this survey will be used to develop a cohesive marketing strategy that will look to leverage the unique assets of the community and position Emmetsburg as a special place. This will be used to promote businesses and activities, recruit new investment, and contribute to the sense of pride that residents have for their home town.
Please take a moment to help with our input survey and answer some questions about how you see Emmetsburg. The survey is open online at www.tinyurl.com/EmmetsburgSurvey.
Arnett Muldrow & Associates will be in Emmetsburg for a marketing and branding resource visit January 10th-12th. The visit will include a series of round table meetings with various stakeholder groups as well as a public Community Branding Workshop at The Shores at Five Island at 5:00 PM on Monday, January 10th. We invite you to join us and share your opinion about this place you call home!
